Hi, I’m Lesley Shiver, a Licensed Professional Counselor/Mental Health Service Provider and I run the DBT Teen Group here at The Middle Path in Maryville! I graduated from The University of South Alabama in Mobile, AL for both my Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art and my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Since graduating, I have had the privilege of working with clients across multiple settings including juvenile justice, foster care, school-based, and private practice (adults and teens).

My approach to therapy is from a person-centered, eclectic stance, with the awareness that everyone is doing the best they can with the skills they have at the time. I believe that everyone has the ability to learn new skills to improve their lives by changing the ways in which we view ourselves, the people in our lives, and the world around us. I am passionate about collaborating with clients to help them make lasting, life-long changes through both group therapy and private practice work.

Lastly, I believe in the power of authenticity and being genuine with clients. I strive to be inclusive and supportive of all people, with the therapeutic relationship being at the heart of the work I do. I deeply value being a safe space for my clients so they may explore and learn to accept who they are, embody their strengths, and trust themselves. I can’t wait to meet you!
